Health insurance open enrollment is just days away! Open enrollment season, which runs Nov, 1, 2016 through Jan. 31, 2017, is an important time to make sure you have coverage that is right for you, your family and your budget for the coming year.
A great deal has changed in the past year for Colorado residents. A number of insurance companies are no longer serving the state, making it imperative for many residents to find new coverage by the end of 2016. Due to federal mandates, insurance companies are required to modify their plans. Even if you aren’t forced to make a change, it pays to shop around. Simply put, the best plan for you in 2016 may not be the best option in 2017.
It’s important to make your choices during the open enrollment window, and the sooner the better. In order to enroll in coverage outside of the open enrollment period, you must qualify for a ‘special enrollment period’ due to a qualified life changing event, such as having a baby.
As an independent insurance agency, we’ll help you shop the wide variety of plans offered by all the insurance companies, including Kaiser Permanente. We also can help you determine if you qualify for any financial assistance in purchasing coverage and explain how your plan works.
Don’t forget open enrollment begins Nov. 1. Mark your calendars so you don’t miss this important opportunity to secure coverage for 2017.
