You vowed that you would be healthier after a holiday season full of goodies, and yet Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. You don’t want to give your beloved only an apple! Here are some ideas for other ways to express your affection this year:
Try a new activity, such as ice skating, snow shoeing, hiking, yoga or even starting to train together for a race. Try to think of something you enjoy doing together or have been thinking about trying. If you can’t find a class, consider a gift for a specific lesson such as golf, tennis, or even dance. Let Valentine’s Day be the start of a healthy new resolution for you and the one you love.
Try cooking a new dish. Homemade pizza instead of delivery? Maybe you would like to try your hand at making sushi instead of going to that expensive restaurant. Or how about a picnic — outdoors or in your own living room? A quick internet search can bring up plenty of options! You could also go to the grocery store together to shop for the ingredients.
Help others in your community. Maybe there is a food bank that needs a little help organizing its supplies, or a soup kitchen or homeless shelter that could use some servers. Maybe you could help a single mom or young parents with their children so they can have an afternoon or evening out to themselves. Giving of yourself is a big way to show love, isn’t it?
