Open enrollment for 2019 is quickly approaching, and that means it’s time to start thinking about acquiring a health insurance plan that meets you and your family’s unique needs.
This year, the open enrollment period runs from November 1 – December 15. If you fail to select a plan during that time period, you will have to wait another 12 months to enroll, unless you qualify for a special enrollment period due to a life event like losing a job, getting married, or having a baby.
To be clear, The Health Insurance Marketplace is for individuals and families who do not already have health coverage through their work, Medicare, Medicaid or The Children’s Health Insurance Program. While you can elect to purchase medical coverage through The Health Insurance Marketplace it will generally be more expensive than the plan offered through your employer.
Are you concerned about the cost of coverage? Premiums are compiled on a case-by-case basis and consider your family’s household income during the last year. The amount of money you make will also determine how much money you can save.
Understandably, applying for and acquiring health insurance can be daunting and quite confusing. We understand, which is why we regularly assist clients as they navigate this process. Take the first step and contact us no later than the first week of November. Together, we’ll work with you to determine the plan that best meets your unique situation.
